Fortuna (Montevideo)
Fortuna is a Barrio of Montevideo that has now risen in Pocitos .
The Montevidean district of Fortuna was founded in February 1885 by Francisco Piria, according to Orestes Araújo, in the area between the streets Pereira, Garibaldi and two neighboring streets that were not named. The district was delimited by the surveyor Alfredo Penco y Sagra. Fortuna's floor space is around 15,000 m². In the "Plano General del Pueblo de los Pocitos" in 1888 Fortuna as well as the barrios Víctor Manuel , Caprera and Artigas between the Arroyo Pocitos Grande and Arroyo Pocitos Chico were included in the Barrio Pocitos.
