The Fortuna Peak is a 385 m (according to British specifications 465 m ) high mountain on the north coast of South Georgia . It rises on the east bank of Fortuna Bay .
The name of the mountain first appeared on a map of the British Admiralty from 1931. The name was probably based on that of Fortuna Bay. It is named after the whaling ship Fortuna , with which the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur and Antarctic explorer Carl Anton Larsen operated between 1904 and 1905 in the waters around South Georgia.
