The Forum for Philosophy is a philosophical institution.

history

The institution existed from 1985 to 1995 as a forum for philosophy Bad Homburg in the legal form of a GmbH . The sole shareholder was Gabriele Quandt-Langenscheidt . The then private lecturers Wolfgang R. Köhler, Wolfgang Kuhlmann (until 1992) and Peter Rohs (until 1986) were appointed as managing directors .

At the end of the ten-year period agreed upon at the time of founding, Wolfgang R. Köhler took over all of the company's shares and sole management. Since 1995 the institution has been operating under the name Forum for Philosophy with its seat in Frankfurt am Main .

tasks

Basically, since the forum was founded in 1985, the self-chosen tasks consisted of holding conferences and publishing books on philosophy . By 2005 the forum had held 28 events and published 20 books.

In the early years of the forum there was also an orientation to carry the philosophy to top management in order to implement a discourse ethic there. In order to achieve this goal, a collaboration with Eberhard Schnelle , the developer of the moderation of groups, came about. A planned series of events was entitled Decision and Communication and pleaded for a new rationality in management - entirely under the sign of John Rawls ' theory of justice .
