Petrus Fourie du Preez (born March 24, 1982 in Pretoria ) is a South African rugby union player who plays as a scrum half for the South African national team , in the Currie Cup for the Blue Bulls and in the Super 14 for the Bulls . In 2007 he became world champion with the "Springboks" .

Career

Du Preez made his debut as a professional in the Currie Cup in 2001, and in 2003 he played for the first time in the Super 12 (now Super 14). His national team debut followed in 2004 against Ireland . The first attempt for South Africa he put against New Zealand at the Tri Nations in the same year, in which the "Springboks" were winners of this tournament for the second time. Since his debut he has been an undisputed part of the squad, became world champion in 2007 and was part of the team that won against all British national teams in November 2008. In 2009 he was part of the South African squad for the British and Irish Lions Tour . The Springboks won the series 2-1 and also secured the third title at the Tri Nations in the same year.

His father of the same name was also a South African national player.
