Foxmail is a free e-mail program from Tencent that was developed by Zhang Xiaolong (张小龙). It supports POP3 and IMAP and has remote access.

functionality

There is a spam filter which works according to the Bayesian filter method and the blacklist method. Since version 7.2, Foxmail's own anti-spam database, which is still in beta status, can also be used. With remote inquiry, messages can be viewed and deleted directly on the server. Since version 7.2.6 it is possible to integrate a Google calendar , since version 7.2.9 messages can be displayed either as plain text or HTML. With version 7.2.13 the program can be updated automatically.

distribution

According to Sina , FoxMail had a market share of 32.92% in China in 2001 and was thus far ahead of other applications.

In a joint press release with Verisign in 2003 to promote internationalized domain names, the authors reported over 3 million daily Foxmail users in China (prospectively, CNNIC reported a total of 35 million Internet users in China in January 2002).
