Frédérique Tuffnell (born June 29, 1956 in Châtellerault , Vienne , Nouvelle-Aquitaine region ) is a French politician who has represented the 2nd constituency of the Charente-Maritime department in the National Assembly since the 2017 election . From 2017 to 2020 she was a member of La République en Marche (LREM). In May 2020 she was one of the 17 members of the newly formed Écologie Démocratie Solidarité parliamentary group in the National Assembly.

Political career

In Parliament, Tuffnell is a member of the Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning Committee. She is a member of the parliamentary groups for friendship with India and Sri Lanka.

In February 2020, Tuffnell resigned from the LREM faction. She said she was frustrated with the way the government pushed through pension reform and that it did not care about environmental issues. In May 2020 she was one of the 17 founding members of the newly formed Écologie Démocratie Solidarité parliamentary group in the National Assembly.

Viewpoints

In April 2018, Tuffnell joined a group of parliamentarians led by Sébastien Nadot who called for a committee of inquiry into the question of the legality of French arms deliveries to the Saudis-backed war party in Yemen, a few days before a state visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Paris.
