Froerup
Frörup ( Danish Frørup ) is a district of the municipality Oeversee in Schleswig-Holstein , Germany .
Frörup has an old water-powered mill that was powered by the Treene and was used to grind grain. An old brass plate on the weir and the mill book "The wind and water mills of the district and the city of Flensburg " allow conclusions to be drawn about the year of construction . After that, it was founded in the 13th century. Later owner of the mill was the Cistercian monastery Rüde (also called Rudekloster zu Glücksburg ). The abbot there ceded the mill to the King of Denmark in 1543 . Today the mill is privately owned and the mill wheel is only used to generate electricity. Visits are not possible.
The Frörup Mountains with their high moor are an Ice Age moraine landscape. The quarrying of stones and gravel in places up to the 1960s has shaped part of the Frörup Mountains again.
