Frachdale ruins

Frachdale , also Fracle or Fractle , is an abandoned settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . Frachdale was about a kilometer southeast of the northwest coast of the Oa Peninsula, about 1.5 km south of Kintra and two kilometers northwest of Cornabus . A stream runs east of the settlement area and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Kintra . The village was the end of a road that leads via Kintra to Port Ellen .

In 1841, there were still 21 people in Frachdale, who were divided between two families. Ten of them were female and eleven were male. In 1851 there were only eight women and four men. In 1882 there were four buildings in Frachdale, two of which were uncovered, one partially covered and one covered. In 1981 all four buildings were in ruins.
