Fractional curettage
The fractional curettage or curettage is a gynecological procedure that is used primarily for diagnostic purposes, but sometimes already the therapy is. It used to be done more often.
Indications (reasons for implementation)
- Bleeding disorders
- Bleeding from the uterus during postmenopause and seniors
- Abnormal findings after the ultrasound examination
- Abnormal findings from the smears from the cervix after the cytological examination ( Pap test )
procedure
Fractional abrasion is usually carried out under general anesthesia , more rarely under local anesthesia .
It takes place in two steps: first - similar to normal curettage - material is removed from the cervix , then samples are removed from the endometrium with a second curette .
