With São Paulo he was able to win the state championship of São Paulo in 1998 and 2002 . In his first season he made eight appearances and one goal. After França could not prevail in the 2004/05 season against the storm duo Dimitar Berbatow / Andrij Voronin , his contract was terminated in August 2005 and he moved towards the end of the season for a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros to Kashiwa Reysol , which briefly was about to relegate from the Japanese J-League to the second division. In the following season, Kashiwa was able to make it back to second place and has been first class again since 2007. In 2010 he canceled his contract there. A year later, França joined Yokohama FC.
