François-Joseph Krafft
François-Joseph Krafft (also Frans-Josef , Franciscus ) (born July 22, 1721 in Brussels , † January 13, 1795 in Ghent ) was a Belgian organist, conductor and composer .
Life
His parents were Jan Lauwryn Krafft and Marie, geb. Aubersin. His cousin was François Krafft . François-Joseph married Jeanne Catherine Willems on January 9, 1768 in the Brussels Church of St. Nicolas. Little is known about the beginning of his career. It is believed that he studied composition with Francesco Durante in Italy . He composed sacred music.
On September 7, 1769, a François Krafft was appointed music director of St. Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent. According to recent research, this was his younger brother, who was born on February 17, 1729. He held the office until his retirement on August 23, 1794.
