François Bonneville, portrait of the Jacobin Adam Lux from Mainz

There are few details from the life of François Bonneville, whose activity as a painter, draftsman and engraver in Paris was recorded between 1791 and 1814. During this period he changed his address several times within the capital. He opened various stands and sold drawings and prints . Until 1797 he presumably headed the printing works of the "Cercle social" rue du Théâtre-français no. 4 , then he opened two shops one after the other on rue Saint-Jacques .

For nearly twenty years he essentially produced a series of portraits of famous people of the Revolution (1796–1802), as well as many allegorical engravings. It illustrated Bonaparte's Italian campaign (1800). His works can be found in Georges Grosjean , La Révolution française (1789-1799): d'après les témoignages contemporains et les historiens modern , Paris, Librairie d'éducation nationale.
