François Lafon (painter)

François Lafon (* 1846 in Paris ; † around 1920 there) was a French painter.

Life

Lafon received his first artistic lessons from his father, the painter Jacques-Émile Lafon (1817–1886). With his support, Lafon was later a student at the École des Beaux-Arts , where he was taught by Alexandre Cabanel , among others .

When life returned to normal after the Franco-Prussian War , Lafon was able to make a very successful debut in 1875 at the major annual exhibition of the Salon de Paris . After several years of successful work, he was accepted as a member of the Société nationale des beaux-arts in 1890 .
