François Rouiller (2016)

François Rouiller (born on May 4, 1956 in Aigle , Canton of Vaud ) is a Swiss science fiction author and illustrator.

Rouiller is a pharmacist by profession . In his free time he devotes himself to science fiction as an illustrator, author and critic. He is also a co-founder and member of the Board of Trustees of the Maison d'Ailleurs , a utopia and science fiction museum in Yverdon-les-Bains .

He was awarded the Prix ​​Rosny aîné in 2017 for his two-volume novel Métaquine® . Métaquine® is a psychotropic drug that turns school failures into model students, to the delight of parents and teachers. The young Régis, however, believes that the drug is destroying the “Duchy”, a fantasy land full of castles and palaces, where there are dinosaurs and where his invisible playmates live. His family is dysfunctional and he has no one except a retired neuropsychologist who lives in the neighborhood and encourages him to defend his dream world and an active activist who fights against the use of the drug in schools. In contrast, there is GlobantisPharma, the producer of Métaquine®, a billion dollar pharmaceutical company that knows how to manipulate the press and the public. In 2002 Rouiller published Stups & fiction: Drogue et toxicomaine dans la Science-Fiction , an essay on the problem area dealt with in the novel, in which he tries to get to the bottom of the depiction of drugs and drug addiction in science fiction.

For his essay 100 mots pour voyager en science fiction , Rouiller received the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire in 2007 .
