Frances Beatrice Marshoff

Frances Beatrice Marshoff (born September 17, 1957 in Bloemfontein ) is a South African politician. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and was Prime Minister of the Free State Province from April 22, 2004 to 2009 .

She matriculated with honors at the Dr Blok Senior Secondary School in Heidedal, Bloemfontein (1975), then obtained a diploma as a midwife and later a diploma as an intensive care nurse and nurse in operations . She worked as a nurse in Johannesburg from 1977 to 1982 and then at the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein until 1986.

She became increasingly interested in politics and worked on various regional and provincial political bodies. During this time she became a member of the Health Workers Association and South African Health and Social Services Organization . In 1994 she was elected to the National Assembly. In 1998 she chaired the Reconstruction and Development Program in Parliament's Finance Committee and chaired the Health Budget Subcommittee.
