Francesca Lia Block (born December 3, 1962 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American author .

Life

After finishing school, Block studied at the University of California, Berkeley . During this time she began to work as a writer. Block wrote her first book, Weetzie Bat , which was published by HarperCollins in 1989 .

As an author, Block started appearing with fantasy bestsellers in the 1990s . Block lives in California with her two children .
