Phoenix Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Phoenix Award is a youth literature prize that has been presented annually by the Children's Literature Association since 1985 . The prize has an unusual concept: Works can be awarded that were published in English at least 20 years before the award ceremony and that at the time of their first publication did not receive a prize or a proper reception .

The name of the award indicates its purpose to wrest good books for young people from oblivion in the same way as the phoenix emerges from the ashes.

Award winners

Rosemary Sutcliff , Peter Dickinson and Margaret Mahy have won this award twice.
