Sophie in the wizard's castle

Sophie in the Magician 's Castle (original title Howl's Moving Castle ) is a 1986 fantasy novel by the British writer Diana Wynne Jones for young adults. The work was first published in Germany in 2005 by Carlsen Verlag in a translation by Gabriele Haefs .

The book served as the basis for the Japanese anime Howl's Moving Castle by Hayao Miyazaki from 2004. The plot of the film and the book differ greatly.

The German-language premiere took place at the Dresden State Theater on November 10, 2018 .

Jones wrote two more sequels to the story. In 1990, the second volume appeared Castle in the Air (dt. Quite a few princesses , 2003) and 2008 the third volume House of Many Ways , which so far does not exist as a translation.

Awards

The book was awarded in 1986 with the Boston Globe - Horn Book Awards , the Award Honor Book and was awarded the Youth Literature Prize 2006 Phoenix Award awarded.
