Alan Garner
Alan Garner (* 1934 in Congleton, Cheshire ) is a British fantasy author .
He grew up in Alderley near Manchester , where he attended the Manchester Grammar School, where a library was named after him. He then studied at Magdalen College of Oxford University .
He is a Carnegie Medal winner, Guardian Award winner, Phoenix Award winner, and Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in 2001. In 2003 he received the Karl Edward Wagner Award . In 2012 he received the World Fantasy Award for life's work.

- Owl Service (1967), based on the Welsh epic Mabinogion
- Elidor (1965), with motifs from Lebor Gabala , the Book of Conquests, which tells of the settlement of Ireland.
