Francesco Monterosso (born April 20, 1991 in Adelaide ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Monterosso, whose parents immigrated to Australia from Italy in the 1970s, played for North Eastern MetroStars in his youth . In early 2008, the striker attended the South Australian Sports Institute before he was signed by A-League club Adelaide United for the newly created national youth league National Youth League . With 13 goals in the 2008/09 season Monterosso won the title of top scorer in the youth league and helped his team to participate in the championship final, in which they were defeated by Sydney FC 2-0. During the break of the season he played at times for his youth club MetroStars and came to some appearances in the South Australian Super League , the highest league in the state of South Australia .

For the following season, Monterosso received a professional contract with Adelaide and came on August 16, 2009 in a 0-1 defeat in Sydney to his league debut in the A-League. In the course of the season he still played mostly for the youth team and was again top scorer of the youth competition with 17 goals this season in the 2009/10 season. In March 2010, Monterosso took part in a trip to South America with the Australian U-20 selection.

In addition to his football career, Monterosso studies economics and finance.
