Francis Forcer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Francis Forcer the Elder (* around 1650 in London ; † around 1704 ibid) was an English musician and composer.

All that is known about his life is that in 1697 he became a partner in a mineral spring in London ( Sadler's Wells ) and held concerts there. A hundred years later the famous Sadler's Wells Theater was built there.

He wrote folk music for the concerts at Sadler's Wells, but it has not been handed down. Some instrumental works have been preserved, including pieces for organ and vocal music.
