Francis Island is an irregularly shaped, 11 km long and 8 km wide island off the Bowman coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 19 km east-northeast of Choyce Point and towers over the surrounding Larsen Ice Shelf by 707 m.
Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered and photographed them from the air in 1940. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), which also named it, mapped the island in 1947. It is named after Samuel John Francis (1915–1983), geodesist of the FIDS.
