Francis Louis Sperry

Francis Louis Sperry (born October 22, 1861 in Talmadge , Ohio , † April 17, 1906 ) was an American chemist. The mineral sperrylite was named after him, which he identified in 1889 while working for the Canadian Copper Company in the Vermilion mine near Denison Township ( Greater Sudbury ). The material was discovered in 1888 by a group of miners who then sent the find to Sperry for investigation.

Francis Louis Sperry's parents were Ira Panel Sperry and Clarissa Carlton. He married Margaret Beaton and had two children.
