Francis Minah

Francis Mishek Minah (born August 19, 1929 in Sawula , Pujehun , † October 7, 1989 in Freetown ) was a Sierra Leonean politician .

biography

Minah was first appointed to a government in 1975 by President Siaka Stevens as Foreign Minister . After a cabinet reshuffle, he was Minister of Justice between 1977 and 1978 and then Minister of Finance . After another government reshuffle, he was Minister of Health from 1980 to 1982 and then Minister of Justice again until 1984.

Between 1984 and 1985 he was the second vice president of Siaka Stevens' government.

After the resignation of Stevens he was finally on November 28, 1985 as the successor of Sorie Ibrahim Koroma first vice-president in the government of his successor Major General Joseph Saidu Momoh . At the same time he again took over the office of Minister of Justice.

After an alleged coup attempt on March 23, 1987 in Freetown , he was arrested on April 6, 1987, and charged with high treason along with 15 other people . After his conviction for the death penalty took place on 7 October 1989 his execution .
