Pujehun is a place in Sierra Leone . The settlement is the capital of the Pujehun District and is located in the Southern Province . Pujehun is located in the southeast of the country at the transition from the mangrove swamps to the rainforest. It is around 220 kilometers from the capital, Freetown .
The inhabitants are partly Mende , partly Crimea and Bullom-Sherbro . Despite its importance as the administrative seat of a district, the population has remained small. In 1963 there were 2034 inhabitants, this number rose to 2802 in 1974 and 3859 in 1985. Today one reckons with a population of around 8,000 people.
The main products are the piassave , which is processed into fibers, and cocoa cultivation. Otherwise the population only grows for their own use.
