Francisco Rodríguez Cardoso
Francisco Rodríguez Cardoso († February 12, 1774 in Buenos Aires ) was a military engineer .
Rodríguez Cardoso first passed an aptitude test in Cadíz before the Junta de Fortificación . He then went to America with his uncle Diego Cardoso († March 5, 1757), where he moored in Montevideo on July 5, 1740 . There, his uncle was initially chief engineer, while Rodríguez Cardoso worked as an extraordinary engineer in the rank of subteniente (sub-lieutenant).
From 1753 Rodríguez Cardoso was responsible for building the fortifications of Montevideo, after he had succeeded his uncle, who had left Montevideo for Caracas that year , in this position. In 1761 Rodríguez Cardoso became a full engineer ( Ingeniero Ordinario ) in the rank of Teniente Coronel (lieutenant colonel).
Rodríguez Cardoso was responsible for the establishment of the Apostadero y Atarazana and the Cubo del Sur .
