Franco Amurri

Franco Amurri (born September 12, 1958 in Rome ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Amurri, the son of the writer and humorist Antonio Amurri , began his professional career in 1979 as an assistant director. In 1986 he made the first film under his own direction and based on his own script.

His breakthrough came with his second film, the award-winning Da Grande , and he was subsequently offered the opportunity to shoot in Hollywood. His two films produced there received only moderate reviews and had moderate success. Amurri has been working for television since 2005.

Amurri and Susan Sarandon have their daughter Eva Amurri (* 1985), who works as an actress.

Awards

For the screenplay of the comedy Da grande (1987), Amurri won the Nastro d'Argento des Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani in 1988 . In 1996 he received the François Truffaut Award from the Giffoni Film Festival .
