Franco Tosi

Franco Tosi (born April 21, 1850 in Villa Cortese ; † November 25, 1898 in Legnano ) was an Italian mechanical engineer and industrialist , head of the company named after him .

After working abroad for a long time, especially in Germany , he was appointed managing director of Cantoni-Krumm & C. in 1876 ​​by Eugenio Cantoni , a manufacturer of steam engines and steam boilers. During this time he developed a 3 HP (1877) and later the Ryder steam engine with 40 to 50 HP (1881). In the same year Tosi becomes a partner in the company, which is renamed Franco Tosi & C. In 1884 Tosi becomes the sole owner of the company.

His company employed around 600 people in the 1890s. Tosi stood out through the establishment of progressive company health care, social security and training measures. He was killed by an employee near Legnano train station in 1898.
