The Dulsberg arcade houses are a listed residential complex in the Hamburg district of Dulsberg . The architect was Paul August Reimund Frank .

Planning and construction

The buildings were constructed starting in 1927, one block each year and the final cross block on the Dulsberg-Süd road . The Mülhäuser street should examine the axis of up to Nordschleswiger road form reaching symmetrical system. However, the global economic crisis led to the abandonment of the construction project.

Between 1953 and 1954, a block was added to the facility, financed by the sale of the property between Diedenhofer Strasse and Nordschleswiger Strasse . The apartment floor plan was changed, however - the apartments now have shower rooms.

Furnishing

The mostly 40 m² apartments had two rooms, a large eat-in kitchen , pantry and toilet. There was no radiator in the bedroom.

Rubbish chutes on every floor, communal baths, communal laundry rooms, roof terraces and central heating were all progressive.

The houses have been extensively renovated since the 1990s, some apartments have been merged into double-sized apartments, and shower rooms have been installed. The legal limitation of rent increases made renting uneconomical.

Communal bathtubs and communal laundry rooms were abolished in the 1960s due to low usage. In the same period of time, the garbage chutes were also closed because the ash bins were in the basement and had to be made available for emptying by additional caretakers for city cleaning. The roof terraces were not made accessible again after the Second World War. The sculptures in the inner courtyards were made by the sculptor Ludolf Albrecht
