Frank-Peter Weiss

Frank-Peter Weiß (born March 3, 1951 in Gröningen ) is a German physicist . Since 1994 he has been a professor at the TU Dresden .

Life

After studying physics at the TU Dresden (from 1969), which he graduated with a diploma in 1973, Weiß was a research assistant for reactor physics and reactor diagnostics at the Central Institute for Nuclear Research in Rossendorf between 1983 and 1990 . In the meantime , he did his doctorate in 1986 on the subject of "Application of some pattern recognition methods for noise diagnostic damage early detection at nuclear power plants" at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and from 1990 was head of the department for safety research at the Central Institute for Nuclear Research Rossendorf. After becoming director of the same institute in 1992, Frank-Peter Weiß accepted the professorship for plant safety at the Institute for Energy Technology in the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Technical University of Dresden in 1994 .

Since 2010, Weiß has been the scientific and technical director of the Society for Plant and Reactor Safety .
