Frank Ackerman

Frank Ackerman (born October 17, 1946 in Madison , Wisconsin , † July 15, 2019 ) was an American economist .

Scientific career

Ackerman received his Ph.D. at Harvard University . Then he taught and researched a. a. at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Boston , at Tufts University and the Stockholm Environment Institute US Center . His research interests focused in particular on environmental economics and the economic aspects of climate change . In the scientific debate, Ackerman was seen as a critic of the use of cost-benefit analyzes in environmental policy. He has played a leading role in numerous studies for NGOs and state institutions, including the European Parliament .

Ackerman co-founded and chaired the Steering Committee of the Economics for Equity and the Environment Network (E3 Network). He was also the co-founder and editor of Dollars & Sense magazine .
