Frank Burbach

Frank Burbach (born March 2, 1945 in Bad Hall ) is a former German diplomat and was most recently Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hong Kong .

After studying law at the universities of Munich and Freiburg, he worked as a lawyer in Munich from 1972 to 1977.

After joining the Foreign Service in 1977, he worked at the German Embassy in Japan (Economic Department and Political Department), at the Consulate General in Milan (Head of the Press and Culture Department) and at the Embassy in what was then Czechoslovakia (Head of the Legal and Consular Department) .

From 1988 to 1991 Frank Burbach was head of training for the senior service in the personnel department of the Foreign Office in Bonn and then until 1994 Deputy Head of the Department for South Asia in the Foreign Office.

From 1994 to 1996 he worked in the Security Department and Press Department in the British Foreign Office in London.

From 1996 to 2001 he was head of the cultural department at the embassy in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Frank Burbach then initially became a consultant for multilateral cultural work at the Foreign Office in Berlin, before he was head of the Department for East Asia at the Foreign Office from 2002 to August 2005.

In August 2010, Burbach retired and was replaced as Consul General by the previous Ambassador to Afghanistan , Werner Hans Lauk .
