Frank Gottmann

Frank Göttmann (born September 21, 1946 in Niederdorfelden ) is a German historian .

Frank Göttmann studied history, German literature and education at the University of Frankfurt . The first state examination for teaching at grammar schools took place in 1973. In Frankfurt, he received his doctorate in 1976 with a thesis on the craft associations on the Middle Rhine from the 14th to the 17th century. A year later he passed the second state examination. In 1985 he completed his habilitation in Middle and Modern History at the University of Konstanz with a thesis on the grain market on Lake Constance from 1650 to 1810. After teaching at elementary school and high school as well as at the universities of Konstanz and Cologne and an interim archival service, Göttmann taught from 1994 until 2011 as professor of early modern history at the University of Paderborn . Göttmann was a senior professor there from 2011 to 2015 . Göttmann has been a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia since 2003 .

His main research interests are social and economic history, population history, urban and regional history, the history of imperial politics and the imperial constitution as well as the history of the spiritual states.
