Frank Hofmann (born April 21, 1949 in Schweinfurt ) is a German politician. Since 1994 he has been a member of the German Bundestag for five electoral terms . He was elected on the state list of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in Bavaria . From October 2013 he no longer ran for the 18th German Bundestag .

Life

After graduating from high school, Hofmann began studying business administration and economics. After graduating with a degree in economics, he did community service, then began to work at the Federal Criminal Police Office as a chief criminal officer. There he became a member of the police union .

politics

Hofmann has been a member of the SPD since 1975. In 1994 he was elected to the Bundestag for the first time via the Bavarian state list. In his first term of office he was a full member of the Finance Committee. After his re-election in the 1998 Bundestag election , which again took place via the state list of the Bavarian SPD, he was a member of the 1st investigative committee that had been founded because of the CDU donation affair . He was a full member of the Home Affairs Committee .

Frank Hofmann was deputy chairman of the Bundestag interior committee in the 17th electoral term. His constituency was Schweinfurt .

After leaving the German Bundestag, Hofmann was a full member of the G 10 commission in the 18th electoral term (2013-2017) , which is active in the course of applying the law on the restriction of the secrecy of letters, post and telecommunications .
