Frank Lohrberg

Frank Lohrberg (born January 26, 1964 ) is a German landscape architect and university professor at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen (RWTH Aachen University), where he has held the chair for landscape architecture since 2010.

Career

Frank Lohrberg studied land maintenance at the University of Hanover . In 1990 he won the Peter Joseph Lenné Prize of the State of Berlin . After his first years working for a freelance planning office, he moved to the University of Stuttgart in 1994 , where he worked as a research assistant at Giselher Kaule until 2001. During this time he did his doctorate on "Urban agriculture in urban and open space planning". In 2002 Lohrberg founded the planning office "lohrberg stadtlandschaftsarchitektur", which he has been managing since 2011 as a partner in a partnership company. In 2010 he was appointed to the Chair of Landscape Architecture at RWTH Aachen University, Faculty of Architecture.

Lohrberg is a member of the Association of German Landscape Architects , the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning , the Werkbund and the Association for the Promotion of the Federal Building Culture Foundation.

The Auenpark in Marktredwitz , the Belvedere Park in Cologne , the Forest Laboratory in Cologne and the newly designed residential area in Donaueschingen are part of the works he has built .

In his research, Lohrberg focuses on the interfaces between landscape architecture and urban development and the topics of "Urban Agriculture", "Green Infastructure" and "Cultural Heritage". With his writings and projects he established the concept of “ urban agriculture ” in German-speaking countries.
