Frank Lorenzo (born May 19, 1940 in New York City ) is an American entrepreneur and manager who was involved in the bankruptcy of the US airline Eastern Air Lines .

Lorenzo was the managing director of various airlines, including Continental Airlines , New York Air , Frontier Airlines , Texas International Airlines and Eastern Air Lines . He became known for his massive cost-cutting measures, which repeatedly brought him on a course of confrontation with the unions . He was accused, among other things , of deliberately weakening Eastern Air Lines , the holding company's airline with the highest union density and thus difficult-to-implement savings in personnel costs, by transferring assets to other airlines in the group for which unions operate had a weaker position. These policies played their part in the collapse of Eastern Air Lines in January 1991.
