Frank Martin Church
Frank Martin Church (born April 20, 1874 in Sandusky / Ohio ; † September 28, 1959 in Chevy Chase , Maryland ) was an American organist, composer and music teacher.
Church studied from 1894 to 1898 at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and until 1901 at the New England Conservatory of Music . From 1903 to 1905 he was an organ student of Alexandre Guilmant and Charles-Marie Widor in Paris.
Until his retirement in 1953, Church worked as music director and organist at Columbia College , Baylor University in Waco and at Greensboro College and Athens College in Alabama. He composed numerous organ works, including chorals and more than 100 Passacaglias.
