Frank R. Hamlin

Frank Rodway Hamlin (* 1935 in Wolverhampton , England ; † 2000 in Richmond , British Columbia ) was a Canadian Romanist , Provençalist and onomasticist of British origin.

life and work

Hamlin earned his doctorate in 1959 in Birmingham for Ph.D. with the work Le suffixes "-acum" dans la toponymie de l'Hérault. Contribution à l'étude des noms de lieux du Languedoc (Montpellier 1959) and became Professor of French at the University of British Columbia in Canada in 1963 . From 1988 to 1994 he edited the magazine Onomastica Canadiana .
