The Frankenberger Bank, Raiffeisenbank eG is a cooperative bank in Frankenberg .
history
The Frankenberger Bank was created in 2000 from the merger of Raiffeisenbank Oberes Edertal eG, Raiffeisenbank eG Frankenberg, Raiffeisenbank eG Frankenau and Raiffeisenbank Geismar-Haubern eG. In 2003 the Raiffeisenbank Bottendorf eG was incorporated. The establishment of the oldest predecessor cooperative was in Dodenau in 1869. On October 28, 1961, the general assembly of the Raiffeisenkasse Wangershausen (founded in 1901 as Spar- und Kreditkasse Rengershausen) decided to relocate its headquarters to Frankenberg and to include the not yet cooperatively organized towns of Schreufa, Rodenbach and Willersdorf in its area. This laid the foundation stone for a Raiffeisenkasse Frankenberg in the then district town. Today's Frankenberger Bank, Raiffeisenbank eG emerged from this Raiffeisen bank as well as from many small savings and loan banks, threshing and goods purchasing cooperatives in the Ederbergland, which grew together in the 20th century and reacted to changed economic and market structures with mergers and course corrections.

The bank currently has 12,496 members (as of December 2019). In April 2016, a second member forest with a further 5,000 oaks was planted in the Kellerwald National Park in Frankenau.
