The Frankfurt Redbacks are an Australian rules football club from Frankfurt am Main .

history

The club was in November 1995 under the name Frankfurt Football Club (FFC) in the register of associations registered. The first away games were played against the Munich Kangaroos , which were founded almost at the same time . The two clubs jointly founded the Australian Football League Germany (AFLG) in 1999 .

The team's greatest success was the German championship title in 2004. In addition, the club came second in the Grand Final of the German championship in 2005 and third in 2006.

In November 2009, the Redbacks competed in a friendly match in Lainate against the national team in AFL Italy and won by one point.

Due to youth problems , the club now only competes in the AFLG 9's league . Important players are the national players Matthias Klusemann, Johannes Mast, Kevin Hopf and Samuel Dawkins, who is both president and head coach of the club.

Since 2019, the association has also provided a women's team, the Frankfurt Redcats.
