Franklin is an impact crater on the northeastern front of the moon . It is located southeast of Cepheus and northwest of Berzelius . The interior of the crater shows fracture structures and the remainder of a central mountain , the terraced walls are heavily eroded.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the American politician and inventor Benjamin Franklin .
