Franz-Josef Berners

Franz-Josef Berners (born March 27, 1945 in Dabringhausen ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Berners graduated from high school in Opladen and then studied business administration in Cologne and Pittsburgh, USA. After receiving his doctorate in Cologne in 1971, he worked there as a research assistant for a year. He then worked as a management consultant until 1973 and finally became sales manager at Bayer AG.

He joined the CDU in 1971 and became a member of the Leverkusen City Council in 1975. From 1979 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. From 1979 to 1984 he was a member of the district planning council of the district president of Cologne. After the death of MP Helga Wex in 1986, he moved to the German Bundestag, to which he belonged until the end of the tenth electoral term in 1987. During this time he was a member of the Legal Committee and an alternate member of the Research and Technology Committee.
