Franz-Josef Dickhut (born January 24, 1969 in Salzkotten , Westphalia ) is 6th Dan and was 11 times German champion in the Asian board game Go .

Life

Franz-Josef Dickhut grew up in the village of Hörste , which is part of Lippstadt , and only got to know the game of Go in 1984 at the age of 15 as part of a project week and a study group at the Ostendorf High School in Lippstadt. Then he took part in numerous tournaments and in 1986 in Oldenburg was German youth champion. From 1988 to 1993 he studied chemistry at Bielefeld University and from 1993 to 2000 Korean studies at Ruhr University Bochum , including a one-year scholarship at Seoul University in South Korea . From 2001 to 2015 he worked in Germany for the Korean company LG Display . He lives in Lippstadt.

In 1992 he was German Go Champion for the first time . In the fourteen years from 1999 to 2012 he was able to win this title ten more times. In 1998 and 2000 he was vice European champion. Between 1994 and 2008 he represented Germany four times during the amateur world championships in Japan . In 2005 he came fifth there, the best position ever achieved by a German.

As a team leader, he has been responsible for the youth team of the German Go Association since 2016 .
