Franz Brahmstaedt

Franz Brahmstaedt (born February 22, 1877 in Krefeld ; † 1919 there ) was a German sculptor .

Franz Brahmstaedt was the son of a musician who immigrated to Krefeld from Malchin in 1860 . From 1901 to 1908 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He married Elfriede Joel († 1974). Brahmstaedt was a member of the Krefeld Dürer Association. The abandoned work of the sculptor, who died early, was destroyed in a bomb attack on Krefeld in 1943. Of the large sculptures in Krefeld, only the Children's Fountain (1911) and the Mourning Angel (1915) have been preserved. Other smaller sculptures by the artist are believed to be in private ownership.
