Franz Cibulka

Franz Peter Cibulka (born December 23, 1946 in Fohnsdorf ; † June 27, 2016 ) was an Austrian composer from Graz .

biography

Franz Cibulka studied clarinet, composition and orchestral conducting at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts . Until July 2002 he was professor for clarinet, chamber music and music theory at the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz.

He achieved his international breakthrough by performing his works as part of the WASBE-1997 ( World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles ) in Schladming. In recent years he has worked in Australia, America, Russia and many European countries as a composer, conductor, interpreter, juror and speaker.

His catalog raisonné includes more than 300 compositions in a wide variety of styles and scoring. The works are mostly created at the request and suggestion of the interpreters and with consideration for their ideas.
