Franz Graul (born October 3, 1924 ) is a former German soccer player who played first division soccer for Werder Bremen in the 1940s.

Career

The all-rounder Graul, who played both as a defender and as a striker , began his career at SV Dessau 05 and played for the successor club Blau-Weiß Dessau after the end of World War II . In 1946 he left the Soviet zone of occupation , which later became the German Democratic Republic , and moved to Werder Bremen . With the Bremen team he qualified a year later for the newly created Oberliga Nord , which was the top division at the time. For three years Graul played for Werder in the Oberliga Nord and during this time came to 44 league games in which he scored six goals. He then ended his career at SVA Gütersloh .

His son Volker Graul was a professional footballer at VfL Osnabrück , FC Den Bosch and Arminia Bielefeld and later ended his career at SVA's successor, FC Gütersloh .
