Franz Kirnbauer

Franz Kirnbauer (*  1955 in Pinkafeld ; †  2009 in Graz ) was an Austrian cultural journalist, editor of the youth magazine "Perplex" and founder of the Graz Perplex publishing house.

Kirnbauer was the organizer of film weeks in Graz and of exhibitions and readings on contemporary history and peace policy topics. In the last ten years of his life, the annual literary competition "Literature overcomes borders" was the focus of his work for young authors. The competition recently had over 1,000 participants from more than 20 nations.

In 2003 he received the Federal Decoration of Honor for Culture of the Republic of Austria.
