Franz Lafer

Franz Lafer (born February 15, 1958 in Feldbach ) is an Austrian gendarmerie officer and politician ( BZÖ , formerly FPÖ ). Lafer was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1994 to 1999 .

Life and work

Lafer attended elementary school in Feldbach from 1964 to 1968 and then to 1972 the local secondary school. After graduating from the Feldbach commercial school between 1972 and 1973, Lafer completed a commercial apprenticeship in Feldbach by 1976 and did military service in 1977. Lafer was a commercial clerk from 1976 to 1978 and a gendarmerie officer from 1978. Most recently he operated a supermarket and a village parlor under F. Lafer GmbH, which, however, had to close in 2008.

politics

Lafer has been a local councilor in Feldbach since 1995 and last until 2008 he was a representative of the Franz Lafer list - The Independent in the Feldbach local council. After he had not received any community funding for his company, Lafer gave back his seat on the council in November 2008. From 1994 Lafer was deputy district party chairman of the FPÖ Feldbach and from 1993 also acted as regional chairman of the AUF-Styria. Between November 7, 1994 and October 28, 1999 he represented the FPÖ in the National Council.

From 2000 to 2005 he sat in the Styrian state parliament . There he was FPÖ club chairman from 2000 to 2002 . In the course of the split he joined the BZÖ and was the chairman of the Styrian state parliament in 2005. Lafer is a member of the BZÖ's Styrian Alliance.
