Franz Ludwig Steinmeyer

Franz Ludwig Steinmeyer (born November 15, 1811 in Beeskow ; † May 2, 1900 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant pastor and full professor of theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Steinmeyer was first active as a clergyman of the Evangelical Uniate Church in the community service in Kulm and Berlin and then entered the academic teaching service as a full professor of practical theology, first in Berlin as of 1852, in Bonn from 1854, and returning to Berlin around 1858 . Here he consistently represented a Union Lutheran theology, which was directed against both dogmatism and all rationalism , and was a partisan of Hengstenberg .

His son was the Germanist Elias von Steinmeyer (1848–1922).
