Franz Pichler (politician, 1920)

Franz Pichler (born October 5, 1920 in St. Pölten ; † November 27, 1982 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and metal worker. From 1959 to 1962 Pichler was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and from 1962 to 1982 a member of the National Council .

After compulsory school, Pichler attended vocational school and completed an apprenticeship as a blacksmith. From 1946 he worked in his learned profession at the Voith factory in St. Pölten and in 1955 took over the office of the workers' works council. He then became the central works council chairman of the Voith works, was from 1959 chamber councilor of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Lower Austria and from 1962 acted as the SPÖ district party chairman. From 1964 he was chairman of the state executive of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions for Lower Austria, and from 1965 he was also chairman of the metalworkers' union for Lower Austria. In addition, from 1970 to 1972 Pichler was Vice President of the Lower Austria Chamber of Labor and from 1972 chairman of the Lower Austrian Regional Health Insurance Fund . From June 4, 1959 to December 6, 1962, Pichler was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament, and between December 14, 1962 and September 30, 1982 he represented the SPÖ in the National Council.
